As the title says, how are things doing?
I've been watching facebook and I hear things are ramping up again.
Oh, and hello everyone. :)
-
The time hasn't stopped yet so yeah things are still going. How? The same speed of course!
-
Prophet: It is good, maybe aliens will be little overpovered, because of new Granger, it is maybe too cute and nobody will want to kill him :)

We're awaiting some new reveals about granger!

Thats awesome. You guys have my support! :)
By the way, have you checked out Yalt's Edge of Tremulous mod lately? He's got some neat stuff on there you might want to get some inspiration from. :D

That server is far from balanced, and if someone speaks about it, he gets banned. Not a good way to treat customers eh?
-
Talk about censorship, lol.
I have yet to meet this 'yalt' fellow, but from everything I can gather, he sounds pretty insecure. I don't see any other reason for anyone to be that defensive over their build for a public server on a dead (some will argue it's still dying) game anyways.
Even though 1.2 is probably about as much of a cesspool as 1.1, you still can't just ban every single person you slightly dislike in this game, considering how microscopic the player base is now. I can't say I know how popular 1.2 is right now, but for the past few months it's been pretty uncommon to see a combined total of more than 30-35 players on the 1.1 server list at any given time. 45+ is exceptionally rare.
-
Well, I've been pretty outspoken myself, and haven't gotten banned at all. Either way, I don't really care about the way he runs his server, just the toys he has on it might be worth checking out.
EDIT: And when was the last time you guys checked it out? Last I looked its pretty balanced. I least notice I can go to town on the enemy team regardless of which team I play, doesn't seem any harder or easier from the perspective of either team.

I was not there. We have enough own inspiration right now and many new suggestions from you and from us, but we need first finish game as is and then we can add new suggestions, otherwise we will never finish it :)

Just wanted to show my support for you to develop this game :).

Btw rotacak, how do you do? Are your finances okay?
-
Thanks for your support :)
Finances are ok, not bad and not best, but ok :) Progress is good.

Hey, I've ventured into this forum after a very long time, how are things going? I need some reliable info about the development, because my nostalgic senses are kicking in desperately. :D

Two months until private alpha. At that stage should be game little playable, I can't wait :)

WHAAAAAAAAAAT! Great news : -)
-
Nice!
-
Who all is going to be able to play pre alpha? Rota?
-
private alpha.
How private are we talking?
-
It'd be a shame if it will be for those who're willing to pay for it. But I suppose that's bussiness : -)
-
How about little discount for a game for ppl that were supporting Murnatan since before it was even Murnatan :D ?
-
Private is just for us, developers. There will be gameplay, but most of objects will have no texture, there will be no particles etc. If you want to play it, you need to wait until beta - that will have nice look already.
About discount - we planning to make offer for early access with discount.
-
I was just kidding with this discount ;) , I know that business is business

Maybe the final realease date will be 30/6/2014 ::)

Speaking of discounts, are there still plans to try for Steam Greenlight?

We are good, but not supermans :)

Yes, we want to try it.

Well, the joking release date of 1.2 (not 1.2 gpp which we play now) was "Thursday" (http://tremulous.net/forum/index.php?topic=16004.0). Be sure to release Murnatan on Thursday, just to get the point across :D

I'm ready to pay any price!

I'm ready to pay any price!
Right there with you.
$79.99, sold on the spot.
Anyone willing to go for $89.99? How about $100.00?

I'm on board with this. Although I have been following you guys for a while, I haven't actually gotten the chance to contribute anything. I just need to see some kind of executable showing off what you guys got going on so far, and I'm willing to pay $100 or more to support.
Looking forward to the beta, keep up the good work. :)

Prophet: thank you for your support :)

I really hope your granger is cuter than the trem one. :o
Is that even possible?

I hope so :)

Omg, I remember that I saw that.
Now I'm really sure that I'm suffering of Amnesia.

Any news about the BETA? Maybe, an unofficial release date?

5 months until some release :)

5 months until some release :)
Dear god, I cant wait ;D
-
I guess this means I'll have to get my finances lined up for a server in the near future then.
:D
-
5 months until some release :)
Public beta?
-
Public beta?
Most likely some sort of Alpha or Pre-Alpha, seeing as how they haven't mentioned the existence of any of the Alien models yet.
-
Closed alpha was done - It had core gameplay (all weapons, all aliens, all buildings)
-
Closed alpha was done - It had core gameplay (all weapons, all aliens, all buildings) [...] also some unfinished parts (mainly visual parts) - like for example just placeholders for buildings/weapons/aliens.
The alien models still don't exist yet as far as any of us have been informed, and a lot of the other models are still missing as well. We haven't heard about the development of any maps, either. All I'm saying is that I wouldn't get my hopes up for a final polished release at the end of 5 months.
It's still really good news though. :3

Public beta?
Should be public, probably alpha.
All aliens are done, but with placeholders. We have done three alien objects, but we still experimenting. When will be everything decided, then we will show some images.
-
Just promise us that the Granger in Murnatan will be even more adorable than before.
:D

New Granger must have all teh squishiness.

5 months until some release :)
It's been 6 months now. Anything new? I can't wait for this game!
-
I'm anxious about the status of this project.
We haven't really heard much about any of the modelling progress yet for the Alien team.
I'm fine with continuing to wait for access to this game, but some more regular progress updates would really be appreciated.
In fact, the longer you can hold off a public Early-Access release, the better. Some of the other projects I've followed have started to fall apart because people have been spreading rumors and complaints about unfinished or broken content. Combined with slow Indie patch cycles, a lot of these projects are catching major flak at the moment. Forums like this one also tend to become overpopulated and flooded by petty complaints and repetitive questions shortly after Steam integration, too. In my own opinion, certain other developers have even become 'fat and lazy' as soon as they started seeing substantial income from Early Access.
However, transparency into the development process is still important. In order to continue to support this project by convincing people that it is a worthwhile venture, we need to have up-to-date evidence that it is in fact making progress towards an on-time release on a 5-year development cycle. We are at the 1,000-day mark on this project right about now - just over halfway to a gold release on that schedule.
This game will need to be nearly feature-complete and ready for beta by the middle or end of 2016 - leaving only one more year for bug squashing before finalization on Steam in 2017 if it is going to release on time based on the 5-year principle.
I'm fine with waiting a few more years for the release of this game, but I would really like to see some regular progress reports on core game content, rather than just back-end fixes.
I am being pushy, but only because I want to see this project succeed.
-
Development was slowdowned in last few months - but don't worry. We should be back in full speed in next month and we will continue posting news from development.
And we will release video from current game status. Today we recording last shots for it. It will be just some preview or how to call it because many things will be reworked but atleast something.
"In my own opinion, certain other developers have even become 'fat and lazy' as soon as they started seeing substantial income from Early Access."
I have same opinion with some other games but I think that this will not be our case :)
-
Good to hear, Rota.
;)

It's dead, Jim.

Soon will start again (it should already start before three weeks but ... it happens).

Hey guys,
People probably expect only postings about the status of the game developing, but i decided to post the status of a random little fan (me).
Rotacak, you probably do not remember me while I played on R Unlimited CZ, but maybe you do ;D it doesnt matter.
I'm new to this forum. I am pretty sad about what happend to tremulous / Tremulous 2 and i hope you guys ,especialy rotacak, will handle this big challange. For me you are heros :) you got knocked back very hard and often for various reasons, but i hope you never give up.
So here i am, a little fan of tremulous, a little fan of Murnatan, with big hopes, saying that you guys have an awesome idea, and there are still people searching and waiting for a game like this! Keep the work going!
If you guys need help with opinions, I would like to help! That's all i can offer ... I have no money or programming skills to support you :(.
Sorry for my not perfect english.
I hope.
Sincerly,
Black-8
-
Hello Black8,
thanks for you support! True is that I did not expected that this all will be so much hard - not only on development side but also on other side. But "never give up" is my motto and we will see if it is good motto or no :)
I hope I will meet you in game :)

There has been some growing concern among some of the people interested in this project.
It has been almost a year since there has been any sort of regularly active discussion on this forum.
There has been no visible progress or status updates in about two months.
Some people are speculating that AAA Games has run out of funding and/or has laid off employees.
This game is close to a closed-alpha state, needing only the alien team, some additional models, and some sound design before it can be play-tested in a very rough condition.
We need to have developer transparency if we are to continue to support this project, because we can't refer new people to a website and forum that haven't seen honest life in months.
Sometimes people inquire to me about the status of Murnatan outside of this forum. Every time they have asked, I have been forced to reply with something along the lines of: "I am hopeful for the release of Murnatan, but there has been no progress for a while, so I can't really tell you much more at the moment".
When the inevitable debate between Unvanquished and Murnatan arises on a 1.1 server, the best I can truthfully say is: "Well, they've made some good progress so far, and they have some innovative ideas, but I haven't really heard anything from them over the last few months".
I have no explanation for newcomers as to why the webpages look abandoned. I have no argument with which to support the recent development of this game. I have no idea where this project stands, or if it is even still being worked on on a full-time basis.
I hope you can understand my concern, being that the future of our clan is riding on this game. If it doesn't get released, then we'll inevitably just quietly fade away from the public eye until we find another game worth playing some number of years in the future.
There are 1.1 players out there who are sick of the seedy cesspool of a community that tends to surround Tremulous 1.1, and are ready for an updated replacement with some fresh life surrounding it. There are those who have told me they are ready for new clan servers with some measure of enforced order and sanity. I can help steer people towards Murnatan, and answer their questions about it, but I cannot make up excuses, and I cannot sell them what appears on the surface to be a dead horse.
I cannot sugar-coat it this time.
We need to know what's going on, Rota. Have you had to lay off team members? Are you in financial jeopardy? Are you making 40 hours of progress every week, or have you had to cut back on development time? Is there something else going on that we can't see?
-
Machine Medic: Everything will be explained soon. Development is currently paused but it means only that release will be postponed. And of course - everything is mainly about money. That is reason why we have pauses in development, why we are slowed (slow computers, non commercial software, hard negotiations with external workers etc.). Also modern engine does not mean that everything will work same, just better. We have do solve many problems that was not in Quake 3 engine and sometime it means that we have to degrade new features to old solutions. But we will dealt with it.
Anyway, you can expect news with topic "We are back in full strength".
