Title: Donations
Post by: mario on November 21, 2012, 07:31:45 PM
Should Tremulous 2 have a donation button, so all the donations would go towards the game?

-Paypal-

Or do you think the game is fine and does not need donations?

Donations are for free games. For commercial games is better preorder.

But still Rota - you can ask for donations to improve the quality of the game?
Hiring external people with better skills throws your rating up.

I doubt that donations will produce some usable amount of money. Preorder is much better, because you really buying something.

Maybe something for this?
It lets people donate for your game, and as you can see, there are much 1xx% (>100%) projects that are funded and can be made.

How more money you have, more people, more people is more content and more content is more gameplay and gameplay is fun and more fun is more people and more people is kaching!

Let people who donate let say: $35 / €30 already have a pre-ordered game with a one-time Human skin or something.

Just some idea's to let this game actually happen.

Nevermind, this is only for US and UK :<

That is hard to say it now. Maybe we will make some competitions later, but basically - no.

my dad trust paypal and donation is no problem for him. But direct transaction is what causes stress in my family. I remember we got scammed a few months ago and we lost a lot of money and got only a few back.

Well through steam you can pay with paypal, you'll get CD key which you will redeem in Steam and then start downloading.

If this game is not open source, shouldn't this entire forum be obsolete? You don't see stuff like that for battlefield 3 (example) either

Hmmm... What about a donate option available during development, and after release there are "easter eggs" in some maps designed by donators, or a sort of "donator board" with pictures? (See: Slenderman's Shadow).

Lizardwithhat: ?

BattleGranger: Something like that would be possible, question is if players will be interested in it.
