I am a bit worried about the inactivity of the forum and the developers of this website. Ive read that you got a steam greenlight and that the game wouldve been soon released. I wonder what happened? Did something happen? :(
-
Money as usual, I think. Skilled developers aren't cheap. Cheap developers aren't skilled.
Rotacak mentioned something about working with a publisher a few weeks ago.
-
Rotacak has made an all-in on this project IMO, I don't think it's a ship he'd abandon. Give it time, bureaucracy is the devil.
-
How is bureaucracy involved?

A few progress updates would be greatly appreciated
-
I don't think there has been any progress to report. No money = no employees.
A man's got to eat.
-
yo, wanted to chime in on the concerns here. My boys and I are still looking forward to Murnatan, hoping for some news soon...
-
We need to figure out some way to raise capital for this game.
It's not going to make progress without money to spend.
It's not going to earn money to spend without making progress.
You see the problem.
It's either:
- A fundraising event (Hell, even a Patreon account with the right set of rewards would at least give you *some* money to work with. Offer special artistic-style wallpaper renders, item exchange currency, name in the credits, or something in that nature!)
- A loan/publisher/sponsor (Who will undoubtedly want a say in the game's development)
- Enlisting volunteer help
- Pre-releasing the game for paid Early Access. (Convince people that this is a cause worth supporting and you might be surprised.)
Those are the only options.

I wouldn't make any assumptions like that until we get some word back. After all maybe they're fine financially and just taking some vacation days.
-
I would like to believe you. Really, I would.
The last mention of any significant progress to the best of my memory was prior to May or April of this year. The fact that they are now trying to deal with a publisher in order to further progress suggests that their financial woes have returned.
I want to be optimistic, but... It's hard not to be skeptical after the dev tracker hasn't moved in such a long time (ignoring one small batch of spelling corrections and bugfixes in the last month or two).
-
I am fairly certain they will choose the best way. I don't think they're going to give up after all this time. Let's see what the future holds.
-
Paid early access should work, from what I've seen from the gameplay video, the game looks like it can function pretty well. Even if it's not optimized well, I'd play it!
-
Agreed. We've come this far, waited this long. Even if it is rough around the edges, people playing the game will bring attention to it. Attention = more players. More players (in paid early access) = more funding - both through purchases AND the resulting increased odds of getting a publisher.
There is always the concern of giving players the wrong idea about a game by letting them play it before it is fully ready... That is something that nobody here can rightly speak to except Rotacak. The decision weighs solely on him as to whether the game is 'good' enough to be shown to the world.
Even so... I'd rather see this game released early than delayed for another 2 years.
-
Yes, it is currently complicated. With publisher it first looks good then looks again bad. Main problem are only money. I did everything what I could for this game, but it still not enough. There are few another possible solutions but if everything will fail, then final release with final gameplay will be delayed by several years until I will make money for it.
But do not worry. Game is playable and I want to release it atleast as is until end of year. Don't know if game can gain popularity when is unfinished - I personally think no, mainly because of missing admin system. But better have it released than no.
-
Damn those guys! Well then, Early Access it is.
-
Like I mentioned earlier Rotacak, it wouldn't hurt to open a Patreon account and put up some basic rewards. That way, at least the people who are willing to contribute financially on a monthly basis can be free to do so. It might not even add up to that much, but at least it will help.
Easy things that can be done later like putting names in a special section of the credits, exclusive weapon/armor skins, forum badges, perhaps even an autographed poster and/or a 'season pass' that gives free access to some/all AAA Games Exchange content for the higher tiers. All are good rewards that don't require much in terms of immediate effort or investment.
My means are not unlimited, but I would be willing to chip in a couple of dollars every month if it would help.

Machine Medic: That is true. I will create some like these donations possibilities. I have meeting with another investor next week and if there will be no deal then I will stop these activities (investors, publishers) and start to working on something that have sense - like directly all about Murnatan and AAAGAMES.

Great to hear that, I wish you luck!

How did the meeting go? :-\

Meeting was good, now we waiting for results.

Imo, patreon is kind of a personal support thing that doesn't work out too well for developement groups, but sure, you can give it a shot.
I currently am still searching for a job for over a year (western australia is the land of occupational inopportunity) so unfortunately I can't help your financial situation.
Also while I personally think that projects with paid early access tend to get negative reviews if they hadn't passed a sufficient developement stage, it might be the best choice for your financial situation.
Also, care to share the conditions of the investor's agreement? If it hasn't been finalised yet, at least remember to read through the fine print.
-
About investor it is already done - failed.
Now we will release current version and we will add project on indiegogo.
I will write more information about everything.

well i'll be damned, at least there are open possibilities

I just discovered this recently after thinking trem died.. then was worried this was dead. so glad to see that it still has a chance! cant wait!
-
Can we have a short update, a few words please? We're all impatient. Also you should try to hype the game up before you make it accessible on Steam because otherwise there will be zero players on launch.

I am full agree
-
Nomad: I cannot do anything about hype now. I don't have any power for it. After release it will be mainly on you, players.
Release is stuck on Steam. They don't know how to run and connect to server to test the game... So it will take probably few days yet.

they do these personal inspections of a game? interesting
-
Loki: Yes. If you will state that game is multiplayer then they want to run it in multiplayer. So probably every game is checked for functionality.
-
It's safe to say we're all dying of anticipation at this point! ;D It might be a bit off-topic, but how is everyone else going to bring other players into the game? Right now I'm trying to explain to friends it through poorly-constructed metaphors:
Okay, so it's based on an old Quake 3 mod called Tremulous, where... Well, have you played Natural Selection 2? Yeah, that was based on a mod, too. Well Tremulous was a bit like that, except it, y'know, isn't? There isn't anybody playing an RTS. Okay, what if I said it was like a cross between Natural Selection 2 and Fortnite? Yeah, it's a bit like that.
-
I have a few people who said they would check it out, but not knowing the release date (thanks Steam) is making it more difficult.
-
the game will get visibility on Steam by itself, I'll push it on my 22k fb site (i don't expect much of a reach though) and guys around already impatiently wait for it
-
Dropped a link on GrangerHub last week as a sort of heads-up for anyone in the 1.3 community interested in trying it out.
...Whenever Steam decides to push the green button, anyways.
-
Good afternoon,
About get a minimum of people playing I think a good way would be try to contact and reactivate a part of the old tremulous communities. I could try to help with the Spanish tremulous community.

Any updates?

It looks like it will be possible to release also Linux version. Only this to setup on Steam and we can go. It is complicated because nobody of us have linux machine.
-
Great, so I assume all the troubles with Steam have been solved, good job.
-
Yes, for Windows was everything solved. I hope that with linux will be no more troubles.
-
In the meantime, we're subject to the greatest tease ever: :P

Saw the Steam page today. I'm excited for whenever it launches. Me and my boys will be around to check it out for sure.
-
God I wish it would release today so I could have a weekend for it. I doubt it though.
