no...what use is a rifle when u can use a blaster which does 7 hp or something, can shoot fast and has unlimited ammo. thats like have another primary weapon.

Blaster will have one new thing and that is flashlight. Damage and speed looks ok already.

Blaster is better than a gun stock, because it is long range. Close-range weapons are for Aliens, not humans. A human can dance out of the way and shoot a bad goon 5 times to kill his last 50HP, while having a close-range gun stock damage of also 50HP...you might pull it off, you might not. Most likely not.

Few things to note:

1.  I think the 1.2 blaster is balanced, the ability to 3 hit dretches with the secondary weapon is pretty good, but also you aren't going to hit them if the dretch isn't brain dead.

2.  I don't know about you guys, but I never have trouble telling how much HP an enemy has when I'm fighting them, accurate within ~5-10hp.  I only get in trouble when someone else fights an alien or human and I'm following them up.  And even then it doesn't matter because they'll die either way.

3.  I like the flashlight idea.  +1

If you really want a melee that doesn't need to be bought, maybe a blaster slap will do, similar to xonotic's.
Xon's shotgun slap (melee) actually deals about the same amount of damage/second as the actual primary, its just that the opponent needs to be close and within i think 90 degrees either direction from where you're facing... There's also a delay before it actually slaps, and this delay is what tremulous is missing.

I got so sick of that sound I replaced it with the spare default turret sound.
