Title: Voicechat, mp3.
Post by: grmg.pl on December 05, 2012, 11:52:26 AM
1. Built-in voicechat/teamchat?
2. Built-in mp3player?

Will voice-chat be Halo-style only louder, so as not to promote useless noise-spam?

I did not play Halo.
But you will be able to:
1) Talk like in real world (you will be heard by everyone only from close distance)
2) Talk in team voice chats (same like team chat but with voice)
3) Turn it off on client side
4) Turn it off on server side

Talk like in real world
I predict A LOT of "/callvote mute Nab -r idiot". Ofc there will be some kind of "ignore", but nevertheless a lot of "voting fun" will be going on :D

Better yet, we should have a gamemode cryptically called "VoteWars" :D

BTW: I say "move RC":
1. It goes to server and from server to the nab or...
2. ...it goes from my client to his client without the server inbetween?

So it'll be similiar to Arma II's voice chat, right?

I think that there is only one possible solution: 1.

I did not play Arma II, so dunno.

1) This is what I meant basically. Only louder. OR, like regular-talk is loud-ish, so you have to whisper. :)
3/4) Thank you thank you thank you

Why not just have a teamspeak channel for each server?

Why have a separate TS3 server for each T2 server when it can be integrated into the game itself?  A T2 server should be perfectly capable of handling voice data, and it's easier for mods and admins like me to moderate anyways.

Plus having change servers in T2, then minimize the client, drag TS3 over to the new server, go back to the game, blah blah blah.   ::)

Why not just have a teamspeak channel for each server?
Because its in-game, and monitored. If you spout out "aliens base is 'here'!!" on public chat in Trem, you'll get a mute or maybe kick. And yes, why use a third-party client? (not to mention it seems to be notorious for team stacking purposes in team-games)

TeamSpeak is useful for teaming, organisation and clan wars. I wouldn't use TS on some public server with common ppl.

As long as games are small, people can invite personal group chats within the server as far as i know. They do this during scrims. Well, when they used to happen.

Or two mates that want one to win, so the other feeds/spies for the first. Or instead of giving the entire team an idea, the two share the glory as they win.
I think Trem chat should stay in Trem.

But, two questions:
1) Will there be PM voice chat?
2) Can IRC channel access be implemented in-game for players and admins?

1. No, but you will be able to create own channel only for you two, if you both are on same team.
2. Yes.
