I'm thinking of a story to write but "offline" doesn't suit most of them... Change it to.. erm... "Lost" or "Broken" etc.

What's your browser specs?

Firefox, latest version.

Same thing happens with IE, Chrome.

Only have issues with this particular forum... images download partway, then corrupt.

cleared caches, etc.  No change.  Seems like some download directory or protocol is bad from here.  Can't see that it could be antivirus, either.

Honestly have no clue why these forums hate my computer's guts...

I didn't say it was a story. I said i was thinking of creating a backstory to the image.

What exactly is going on? Does the forum look blank to you?
Looks "normal" to me, i'm using google chrome... erm... an outdated one...
*caugh caugh* sneaky chrome was updating behind my back!
Version 23.0.1271.97 m
[tick] Google Chrome is up to date.

Windows 7 Home Premium, latest update.

I've ruled out my antivirus software, that's not it.

Honestly, there is no good reason why my computer shouldn't be able to download files from these forums.

All the images I try to download or view corrupt at the same file size during the download.  An image will look perfectly fine, up to a point where it looks like the download is interrupted (which corrupts part of the image), and the rest of the image is a constant grey color.

Keep in mind, this happens on all browsers on my machine.  I've even tried different routers, with the same result.

Mac and Ubuntu/Mint seem to work fine. (Firefox and Safari though, no IE of course)
Maybe you could try a right-click save-as.

On chrome it's save image as...
Anyway, that image, looks like it was loaded and then corrupted, or loaded halfway... if you know what I mean. But i've never seen something that has identical effects to that, because ususally the bottom half would be transparent to the surroundings or so, and that fuzzy part in  the center is usually a whole lot smaller.

This is totally FAKE!!!!!

It was established long time ago that you can actually see the stars in space, so this is not in space, this is just some another CGI fake :(

...Anyway

Will the scene be all white or will other textures be used to make it more "dirty and grimy"?

It will be textured, but not dirty.

'Twould be very cool if you could use some sort of Material system... then again, this is probably being made in UE3 anyways.  Lol.

I hope you're not going for the photorealist look too much, Unvanquished is already doing that.

About the scene, it feels very much like a square room with a computer tacked on as an afterthought, could benefit from more integration.

Pshaw, no way.  The Materials concept in Unreal's graphics engines is a very powerful tool though, it'd be interesting to see this scene animated using textures as Materials.

Materials add depth, reflection, and other amazing things to simple textures.

With even the most basic low-poly surface like a road, Materials give everything life:

If you just take the websites background and stick the logo in the black space, that could work already.

Screens from animation, three versions - brighter, darker and with motion blur.

Motion blur is only good for a scene where a human is hit several times and is groggy and about to say, get his face chewed on.  :P
