There is no way how to contact old players, if they are not registered on RCZ forum.

Perhaps have an alliance/clan/guild system... Not forcing people to wear the same tag, but at least to recognize.
Nothing with friendship or such... That is knowing the player and being able to contact him ingame and not being like all wuzzy about it.

So perhaps a "Friend" system in form of being comrades.

Might seem better to the older/more experienced players than calling everybody a friend.

Well the "clan tag" stuff might be useful since everybody can fake a clan, like Ribin.

There will be clan system, so you don't need to add tag to your name. And you cannot be member of any clan, if clan administrator will not approve you.

Really, clan system would be bloody cool.

Or clan system will go the way of /register.
"Clans" could be put under the "Friends" tab, and you'd join clans through the friend system and not as a seperate list that you scroll through or search through to find the one you want. Just add them as a friend, ask to join the same clan they're in, and badda boom.
