I don't want to be a jerk but you should realize that this is not going to be a game with a huge childish community like Minecraft is. Such a customization is irrelevant for a game like this.

I know I am not in the dev team or anything, but I had to say it, and honestly.

Hear, let me give you a example of a signature color: It is just a example of what I mean you don't have to keep the general design or scheme...

P.S. I really don't care what you think Loki... I like it and having a signature ain't childish...

So you're basically suggesting the idea of allowing each builder to apply their own texture or color scheme to the structures that they build?

I like it.

No not a Full color, a set scheme that the developers make that you can add your color too...
Apparently you didn't look close enough at my example it is not the full turret just a part and it isn't going to be very bright it will be rusty and or dim.

Yeah, bases will look bad if turrets have non-matching colors, even if it is just a fainted stripe on the side. Leave it for modders to implement. (dont worry, they will :D)

This gave me an idea though (dont know if it has been said before):
What if the builder that built the turret got some creds and points for kills from that turret? kinda like tf2, but only 10% of what he would get if he killed the alien himself. If not the specific builder, maybe all the builders or the whole team could get creds from turret kills.

Problem is 1.1 and probably Murnatan are both very different from TF2.

Instead of one builder with a single turret, you have many, many turrets with base defenders mixed in.

Historically it's usually about 65/35 as to who gets credited for the kill, in favor of the defenders.

Tracking the separate damage dealt by each player and their structures would be a much more accurate representation of usefulness on a team.  100 damage dealt or 1 frag (tracked separately) should award 1 score point.  Evos and credits should probably still be based on frags alone though, to keep people from farming hallways or enemy bases for credits by spamming turrets, etc.

Builders might also get credit for keeping their structures alive.  For instance, awarding 1 score point for every 100 damage repaired from a structure, and taking 1 score point away for every 100 damage dealt to a friendly structure.

A seperate Elo rating system could be fun too:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system

Usually pretty accurate.

Don't be an ass.

Quake Live uses a very effective system based on the same principles to quantify player skill accurately for the purposes of matchmaking and ranking.  It greatly helps players of similar skill levels play together.  Your newbies, regulars, and elites can all find each other.

The Elo system is another predictor of survivability, usually very precise.  Some servers use that system instead to limit the types of players they will accept.

My ultimate point being that the scoreboard system in 1.1 was broken in the sense that it was not always an accurate representation of usefulness (last one to deal damage wins the kill), and it was not designed to account for builder play styles.  After all, half the point of the game is to build.
