OKay so I know this idea is going to sound pretty wacky, but i've given it a lot of thought and I think it can actually be very plausible. You know how in some games, theres certain moves that can be used at certain times after like building up a certain number of points you can do something that does SUPER POWERFUL DAMAGE?? Kinda like how in mario kart when you're last place, you can get a blue turtle shell which will blow up the lead racer. Or how in super smash bros, if you get the smash ball you can use a super powerful move which will wipe out whoever it hits.

SO i'm thinking that to spice things up in this game, after a certain number of kills have been reached, or if some in game objective has been achieved during a match, or just some threshold reached, the overmind/rc should turn into a SUPER POWERFUL BEING.

For instance, if the alien team gets like a certain number of kills say 50 kills in a game, it should turn the overmind in the OVERMAN. The overman is basically going to be an overmind with arms and legs, that runs around the map kicking and punching down every human that gets in its way. If the Overman gets to the human base before the humans destroy it, it will blow up, causing a ton of splash damage.

In the humans case, it will be called ReacTOID. So basically the reactor will spawn a jetpack and speed boosters and lazerbeams and start flying through the map shooting all the aliens. If the aliens fail to destroy it, it will fly into the alien base and self destruct.

What do you think? I think having a super special attack in the game will make the gameplay a little more fun.

I think that is very crazy idea :) But I am open to all ideas. Anyway, this is almost impossible because you simply cannot sent rc/om away - human base withour rc is unpowered and alien base can explode without om and eggs.

Another problem is when rc/om will be self-destroyed, your base will stop work.

Also pathfindig for walking rc/om is problematic, maps can be very complicated and rc/om can stuck everywhere - that is one reason, why are bots in Tremulous problem.

I think that Overman/Reactoid would work only in some special mod, with special maps. Maybe in ambush or similar.

[1]We can pre-make the paths you know.

[2]You said this game won't be and cannot be modded, only customized. Unless you do it yourself along with your team, this is going to be impossible.

Therefore, Tremulous 2 might have the future (or might not, since it isn't developed by a corporations, depends on what Global Government will decide), but Unvarnished doesn't.

1. predefined paths will not solve everything, for example small doors.

2. sure, that is reason why I mentioned Ambush.

Maybe the team could prepare for an Overman/Reactoid rush, for instance, it could be a team vote once the requirements have been met. And before the vote the team could build repeaters all over the base for power. Then when the RC blows up perhaps it could just respawn where it was previously built. Or when it flies away perhaps the base could just get some sort of "emergency power" where everything is powered even when the RC is gone.

I mean, with programming anything is possible.

To give people a better idea of what this attack would be like, for anybody who has played TF2 a lot, think of a mixture between a Sentry Buster from Mann vs Machine, and the Horseless Headless Horsemann from the Halloween event.

Hm, I'd play that game.  :D

My turn?
Idea of keeping with the "detaching": You get the "super power-up" and then the OM/RC will get bigger-ish and then....well, then it gets weird. Alien OM has a "baby" structure, which you have to be a granger and place somewhere, even in SD of course, which will give aliens an organic powerpack which will give them more speed and HP, yadda yadda. Then the RC will "modify" the Armory's to put out a special vest which will boost speed and stamina and HP. For a suit it could just plug into the back of their head.

Balance:
1) Happens only once per game, only after the team has collectively got ~50 kills like the previous idea
2) The OM/RC will glow and OM will shake/RC will crackle with small lightning when close to the 50 kill mark
3) The power ups only last for 60 seconds, (with a timer replacing the number of evos, since you can't evolve while having it), and the window of opportunity to get the power up is 5 minutes, and you can only have it once in the game.

And....brainwave over.

In fuma's latest [more than a year old actually] bot code for tremulous 1.1, he has made it so specific classes can take specific paths. For example, you don't get battlesuits running into vents where small aliens and humans would crouch into.

Or rooms infested with deadly gas or places with high temperature where can just battlesuit protect you :D , and that idea with superweapon or something like this could be built-in maps, like cool vehicle with machinegun or possibility to build special structure allowing faster gathering of evos for aliens after achieving something.
