I have lost any and all respect for the 1.1 "developers" that originally made Tremulous. Sure, the game was fun, and I logged more than 500 hours on it, but after all that has transpired... I really don't give a f*ck anymore.
They are dead to me, and so is their game. Which is why I'm here, cheering for the development of a newer, better game that I hope will put both 1.1 and 1.2 to shame and make the original devs envious as hell for their idiocy.
Let's be very honest: 1.1 was buggy, looked awful, had repetitive sounds, and had the world's cheapest animations. The ONLY reason it was fun was because of the gameplay. With this project, Rota plans to make it look and sound good, and actually support it after release, instead of saying "code it yourself" and walking away for three and a half years.
I had a lot of very good times playing 1.1, and I've got a lot of sentimental memories of it. But you have to remember, it's only that - sentiment. When the original devs turn down a professionally developed final release that we have all been waiting intently for for 3 years, and then go on to say that they'd rather see 1.1 die and be forgotten than allow such a project... that's betrayal.
Ultimately, I may have supported 1.1 in the past, but times change, and Timbo would have 1.1 die in the dust and become a memory.
So be it.
